HAUPT-INTO-SHAPE & Vacation Work-Life

Brief history of HAUPT-INTO-SHAPE:

Since 2013, I’ve been a self-employed personal trainer and group fitness instructor working out of gyms, homes and parks.

In 2017, my husband Mitch decided he wanted to get a remote job so that we can work and travel. I laughed at the thought but encouraged him to do what made him happy. Once he managed to secure his current job, Mitch asked me something along the lines of, “What would your ideal work-life be?” I didn’t even need to think about it, I answered immediately, “To be be able to wake up on the beach, train clients from a beach chair, and when I get too hot, I can dunk into the water to cool off then go back to work.” It was right then and there we decided it was time to bring my training business online.

Two years later, we finally made our dream come true! Or at least our fist attempt at it. In February and March this year, we spent 17 days in Costa Rica where we experimented with our vacation work-life dream.

Vacation work-life:

For almost 2.5 weeks we traveled around various cities in Costa Rica, stayed at different hotels and one Airbnb. The Airbnb in Quepos was our main work hub and our favourite place to be. This is where my vacation work-life dream came true. I didn’t end up waking up on a beach like I wanted, but there was a private pool in the backyard where I did all my work and jumped in when it got too hot. So really, how can I complain about that? Click here and here to check out two great “Home Workout” videos I filmed while working there.

One of the more adventurous highlights from our vacation work-life trip was the video I attached below. I’ve always wanted to try Bungee Jumping, so this year, I finally made it happen! This was no ordinary jump… First off it was in the Monteverde Cloud Forest - full of lush vegetation, tall trees, and insane wind. Second, it was 143 meters high, which is the tallest bungee point in all of Central America.

I was absolutely terrified (more so than Sky Diving), but I’m so happy we did it and that I had Mitch doing it with me. He’s my partner in crime. I couldn’t be more grateful for him and him pushing us to have the vacation work-life. I look forward to many more years to come!
